Bits from the week!

Lots of good runs were achieved this past week, lots of good workouts done also. I would like to have done a run on Sat but alas the thigh muscles on the top of my left leg are screaming after sitting two hours pushing a clutch in and out in stop and go traffic for a total of 7 miles Fri. I think I had better get to a gym and work the right leg so I get evened out in the muscle area.

I did a really cool Bio mechanical analysis on my feet and a look at how they run at a high tech fancy shoe store filled with only running stuff. I need lots of strength support on my outside leg especially the left. WOW what and answer to the reason why my left hip gives me trouble. My shoes are good but a lot of the support is in the arch so now I am going to have to save the pennies to get a shoe that is really solid all the way around and for sure on the back outside of my foot.
Friday at the Dr. office we heard great news that says the Little Guy Jer is actually on the growth charts these days. Now that he has endured a years worth of having to have a growing shot every evening we are finally seeing some progress. I knew it because he was moving through clothing sizes but its nice to have the Doctors see it and start to jump up and down happily too. As mean as it is to have to give your little guy a shot over and over again its nice that there is finally a result for all the torture that has to be given.

Eating is going really well I am paying attention to keeping it all whole grains, lots of veggies and some fruits and not over eating, I think I am eating better then I ever have in my life. At least I am getting more veggies then what I used to. The veggies are with every meal also. I am also working to make sure that my biggest meal occurs at lunch time so that I am not caught going to bed with a heavy tummy.
Breakfasts are getting more consistent for the girl who was never good at that. I do have to kick myself once in a while and think hey its getting past 9:30 are we eating breakfast or lunch only today. I am waiting on pins an needles to get my lovely drink for the morning fueling that I need to do. It should arrive in the mail soon. Now the goal is to get the little guy to tank up eating in the morning also along with the Hubby who has to leave at such an unearthly hour sometimes and so so sucks at doing a morning meal (and he is a health professional who should know better at eat a morning get going meal).

On the wrestling front:
We have C boy who stays right on weight without starving himself, he is eating really healthy except he dislikes celery he says. This week he has had 9 wins all pins and 2 losses. Yes one of those losses was against the Nationally ranked high school senior that he is living to beat some time this year. He said it was a total mental loss because he tried a move that got him in to a position to be pinned and he forgot that the kid has lots of experience and was not using techniques to do the wrestle. Live an learn and go on its just a game is his attitude which is really a good one to have. He has decided he needs to strengthen his fingers lots more because his grip is not very strong.
The Junior high boys K and Mc well they made a bet that I couldn't run with the team in laps and get to the end so I did it after having ran two miles earlier that morning. 5 min laps= about a mile and yep I did it faster then my usual run times. Mc took pity and never went ahead of me. K boy I barley saw he went fast and furious. All the other boys were impressed and gave me high fives or told me that I was good. Made me feel pretty darn good to know that I can run with them too these days.

One confession to make, I can't not keep from a peek at the scale I just don't tell the Hubby and I wont record it, but it is back up 10 pounds but sticking right at my last hypothalamus set point. This was from my previous round that I did a good set job setting my system like Dr. Simeons says to do. Very unlike this last flub up from the holiday avalanche slide that I made. Its a testimony to me that following protocol and doing things right with the diet is important. On to next weeks goal bumping up to 5 mile run at least once this week.

140.BRRRRRR its cold!

We awoke to find the little boys room freezing cold and the wind whipping into it in record strength. There is a huge storm brewing that is supposed to be record cold, wind and snow by tonight. Let me back up just a bit, a few days ago we had an earthquake, the epicenter was very very near our home. It was small but it must have knocked a few of our nails around that keep the house together because the window frame that the Hubby still has to frame around on the inside came loose in the boys room. This allowed wind to blow through the crack that is between the window and the framing spot. It let the foam seal crack and with as much wind as we have from the impending storm that was one dang cold room. Yep no exercise this morning because I was trying to seal the frame back in without realizing that the window was loose. After everyone got on the buses I headed for the Hardware store and got caulk to reseal the area. They asked me if it was loose because they just couldn't understand why the air would be getting in like that especially after I said it has been sealed for like 4 years now. I hadn't even thought to look that the window might be loose. By the time I got home the Hubby was back from a short day at work and I discovered a way loose window that had nails that were not sunk in on one side of the frame. The Hubby used his strong hands to crank the screws back in and hold the window back in tight and I caulked the seal back together. It sometimes is a small blessing to find such things can you imagine what a wind at 50 mile and hour could do to that loose window with this up coming storm we are supposed to have.

Eating was making sure I got breakfast because now like never before my body is saying I am hungry feed me when I get up and get going so here goes the eats.

Eats: Well an apple muffin on the run for breakfast.

Lunch is a hamburger with spinach salad for lunch.

Dinner: Steak with a handful of almonds and a huge cup of hot chocolate that I might very well regret on the morning scale read but after being ice cold all Dang day it felt good to drink something warm.

139.4 A Need to win hmmmm!

I feel better today. I was afraid that my hip might hurt when I woke up this morning after running for that many miles. I was pleasantly surprised that it must be starting to comply to these exercises that I am making it go through. I sure do not get why it didn't hurt like this back when I started running in the summer for the first time in 19 some odd years. And even at that I was not really ever a big runner.
I hope I win this (go read about it) never wanted one until lately when I can't tell how fast i am getting or how far I have gone.

I had such a busy day that I only ate a steak on the run at a restaurant and had an apple with it.
My pants are so dang baggy but I am having a revers experience about not wanting to give them to someone else but they do not fit me very well at all. Why would that be, well they are dang cute they are long not capri's, they keep me warm and I only got them a year ago. I am back in that space of not wanting to go buy pants (costly &, no money to spend) but this time its to get a smaller pair not a bigger pair. Oh that felt so good to be able to say and think that.

So today off our school lunch menu C boy can only eat the salad which is only a bit of shredded iceberg lettuce, and apple wedges with milk to stay safe in keeping his scale level at a good space. The Macho nachos have way to much sodium and the chips are corn with dextrose, He could scrap the cheese and meat off and eat that but there is barely any there and it is all mixed with the beans that are totally sodium loaded. The treat is a Rice Krispie and so no sugar if he is going to play it safe. Then I read this off the Lighter side blog and about died. Maybe the schools should watch what they are feeding the kids first before telling the parents how to fix the kid. Made me fuming because the kids have to pay extra to get a nice side salad if they do not want to eat off the school menu at our school areas.

140.4 Whats the Eats?

My boys did dinner last night, they caught a rooster that is killing their hens and they made him for our dinner. They plucked the feathers off and cut the meat down then put a bit of flour and seasonings on and walla dinner right off the good old farm. That will teach roosters to hurt their precious hens ever again.

I fell of the wagon a bit no exercises today. I am freezing, there is one draw back to losing weight and that comes under the fact that cold weather can really put you down. I have the sniffles a bit and my head hurts. I will hit it hard tomorrow though because I want to attain my 10K now not next year.
Eats: almonds, carrot, cabbage roll, cauliflower pizza with cheese, eggs, broccoli and turkey pepperoni, and some home grown boys made baked chicken breast,

139.2 My Kids are Winners!

Mc took third would have gotten second but the rounds were done in what is called round robins so the kid he won beat out the next kid that Mc had lost to making it drop Mc to third. Give him a few more weeks of practise and that neck hold will not make Mc cringe ever again and he will always be the guy on top.
K boy is a bit of a heavy weight and the other boys his age look at him and "go oh no he is big and he is going to squish me" and then they have already lost without really even trying, so K just rolls them over and pin, he wins.
Z boy well he is little and has lots to learn and so does everyone that he has to wrestle so he took fourth but they still got medals so he was thrilled.

C boy the coaches decided that they will have him wait one more week to burn a few more calories and try staying at this low weight, because you can only do this hydration weigh in one time a year and then your growth allowance is based off that last weight and since his weight was 103.9 that was way to risky a risk to take. There are two Saturdays that they can do the test and so next week they will lay their odds on the scale so to speak. At 5 AM he was 102.3 after running with a plastic bag on him. But we all know that through the day your weight increases a bit and he still had to drink his allotted 2 liters of water plus a Gatorade before standing on the scales.

Why would a coach want a kid to try so hard to be at a certain weight when they know he has very little room to burn down and there is hardly any fat on him. Well a bit of history. C boys older brother wrestled and his uncle, many many cousins, his Papa did in College and his Daddy too. The coaches know this, some even wrestled the Uncle and Daddy when they were in High School. The Coach has taught the cousins and the big brother through the years so they know that there is abounding talent genetically in him. This sets us to the point where we talk about the fact that C boy has hardly ever lost a match in the 11 years that he has been wrestling. All moves come pretty automatic, he is a willing learner and ready to play the game 24/7. They have all been waiting the day when he got to High School. Two years ago they started paying attention to a kid in another county that would be the 103 bracket and hoped that C boy would not have any growth spurts and could be in that weight bracket. This kid is a senior and is very good and the only kid who could even come close to experience is C boy. All the other kids that are coming in weighing 103 that are on the High school team have never wrestled. So that's why everyone is hoping and working to keep C boy at the coveted 103 spot. So another week of teaching him how to eat low and healthy and keep at the 103 spot.

I ate peanut butter sandwiches, cheese sticks, Yogurt, celery with peanut butter and honey. Fried potatoes with hamburger, yogurt cheese gravy sauce and squash with brown sugar and butter and sausage in the middle. C boy ate the same things except for the potatoes that he stayed away from.
I got 1 mile on the treadmill. I am really having to share these days and the time frame is really tight because we both try to run in the morning. It would be so nice if it were warmer outside so I could just get out the door instead of freeze out there.

138.6 Wrestle on, steak day helped.

We are all very happy today, its Friday. The pretty girl made a healthy breakfast for the guy friend and surprised him with breakfast in bed. She is taking him to a dance tonight.
C boy is almost to the weight that he needs to be, all the while eating very very healthy, no starvation going on here even though he thinks it is when all the other kids get things like tortilla's or chips.
Me I am happy because for at least today I got the pounds to drop back a bit and even got a run in late at night.

My eats Cheese, Steak, lettuce, almonds, chocolate nut spread, Eggs, and two candies. Its the strangest thing to not get that grinding hungry pain and to just pay attention to if I really am or am not hungry.

Had to laugh at the C boy, he was cooking the steak, making the food he gets to eat after his weigh in tomorrow. Being all fussy in the Kitchen, finally I asked what he was doing; he even washed dishes. He said "I can't stand that the steak is setting and no one is rushing to eat it." "And I am just trying to be helpful." I told him he was testing his strength and he better get out because he can't eat tonight as he is so very on the edge of what he needs to weigh tomorrow.
All the little boys are doing a Bantam tournament and they were really quickly in their beds out to sleepy land. These tournaments start at 7:30 am and there is always travel time to have to take place.

140.4 Modified Steak day again.

I decided to try another steak day to see if the weight would drop back down to the lower level that I had ended this last round with. I am not really ever hungry and eat really rather small in portion but I always seem to slowly climb up bit by bit. That's even with all the hard working out that I have been doing. I look great so I can't complain that the scale sits a tiny bit higher then when I finish but sure makes me nervous for when I reach my goal point. I just might have to go way past the 120 mark so that my system does its final set point right at the 120 when its all said and done, if you follow my gist here.

The C boy came and said he had a go to the bathroom problem. The Hubby and I asked him how long it had been going on. He said like 4 days now. We were a bit surprised and then the lecture about didn't you listen about how the wrestling coaches said you needed to drink water? Ya Ya but he hadn't believed and now he was sick. Well since that Hubby is in the Med field and the Little guy Jer has to often use things to help the motility, C boy got a dose. Needless to say those few pounds that he has been stressing over came off and the morning weight was 1 pound away from where he needs to be by Saturdays weigh in. Now all we have to do is good healthy eating of nice veg and protein for three meals in small portions and lots of water with tons of exercises and I bet that boy makes the coveted 103 pound bracket that he desires.

Me a nice long walk of 2.5 miles since its my rest day but I crave doing something healthy everyday now.
Eats steak apple and some cheese oops not a total steak day.

148.6 Finally a semi quiet day.

It's raining cats and dogs, there is a post sitting that was for Mon. and Tue combined but I have to wait to make it public after seeing what the outcome of life takes, stay tuned.

Eating: I keep getting caught in crazy spots without healthy choices and it's wearing me down. Last night I ate pizza. The crust was thin the toppings were chicken and tomatoes, artichokes and lots of creamy ranch sauce but again there was a heavy white crust. A slice made it in my mouth for breakfast to today. I am still maintaining with slight rise above the goal stop point for my last round.

I can't get to a minute of exercise at all I am playing catch up on bills, paperwork, house keeping and getting kids ready for school. I am tired it's hot and not sleeping well again has occurred. If I could get some in I would drop back to the 145 set point of my last round I am sure.

I really want school to get started.
I want to drop the last 20, well now 25 pounds that my WII says should be my optimum weight for my age and height. I want to do it before all the veggies are gone out of my exploding garden.

I laid plastic in the garden so I didn't have to weed so much and it has worked like a heat absorber and a moisture retainer for the roots of the veggies. I have never had so many cucumbers and lettuce growing at one time. The tomatoes are monsters and will make me can lots for this winter. Not to mention that I will only have to buy meat and fruit for when I start the 25 pound drop for my diet. Well and the expense of an onion or two and some cabbage leaves. This will be the cheapest time I have ever done the diet this year.

147.4 Nasogastric Tube Feeding

This shows the pic trauma about to be discussed.
What is it like to have to shove a tiny tube down a itty bitty nose and feel when it hits the end of the nasal cavity and turn to make its descent? All the while you are holding the flailing hands and watching the fear in the eyes. Desperation setting in on both parties to get it out or get it in whatever it's going to take. Then what about when you have to pull it because no matter what you do it's plugged with medicine, usually at two in the morning feeding hour to top it all off. You have cranberry juiced it and water pushed it and that was even warm water and it's just not going to give. What about having to place a stethoscope on the tiny tummy and fearing that you will not hear tummy sounds when you pull back on the syringe that is at the outside end of the tube, but maybe a lung sound, thank goodness that never happed to me. Shall we say FRUSTRATION daily more than once a day sometimes.
Then there is the puking that happens. Because the natural response is to reject foreign matter and it's so a foreign. I finally couldn't take it, we had taught him how to eat, he smeared it all over his face, it got into his mouth, and I could spoon some into his mouth but the tube would often cause havoc because he has texture issues and now days since the trach revision surgery we realize that scar tissue was causing some tightness that caused major smallness for the food to go down with a tube taking all the extra space. Need I say then causing major puking. Jer had been home about 6 months we were doing the daily above described struggle with every meal almost. He was a year old and as round as a baby could be when he puked yet again and I left it OUT. Eating became a bit easier or maybe a little less stressful minus the addition of shoving an NG tube back into his tiny nose after every feeding just because he puked it at some point during the feeding. Even the pretty girl knew how to get it in but the boys including the Nurse Dad refused to help put it in, they would only help hold the flailing hands.

This shows all the different ones they had used on him through the year, yes we had to use every one of them but the Gtube along with all the psychology and the reasons as to why feeding must be done this way. They did want us to have a Gtube but we said no give us time to teach and him to learn.
Kids go through spurts of great eating and then the I don't like that phase when they used to eat it every single meal. I hope that as he gets older he goes back to that normalized smeared all over his face baby eating that we taught him and he gets willing to eat more then just all white foods and dry crusty food. He seriously has oral and sight aversion to KY jelly or anything slimy like it, but I must say thank goodness he will eat something these days. Little does he know how many veggies and slimy fruit is blended and hidden in his pedisure at night these days.

Eating is a continual chore trying to see what he wants to eat for the day telling the youngest of my two boys that they can't have when he can have whatever it is now matter how unhealthy it looks simply because any calorie is better than no calorie at all. And the volume of get hungry medicine or reflux medicine or laxative medicine bugs the heck out of me but it's our normal at least for him.

148.2 The Parent saga goes on.

This morning that white truck had to go see the Doc again. But he wasn't in till tomorrow which is ok cause there were a few errands to run that didn't involve my leggys. But when the Mom arrived home. UMMM The J girl had kicked into high gear and her room was spotless I mean she even vacuumed like I do, she told me, and it sh owes. The Two obedient boys were still doing the list that I had made of must be dones by this weekend or no fun things will go on. They have welded into a great team. The one who almost missed out on peewee 4-H kicked into super charged high gear and even cleaned and vacuumed under his bed, that resulted in points back by far on the parent willingness. The C boy well he got up at 6:00 am and did several off the list and started his room too. When he got back from wrestling camp he had most of the room done before Mc who he shares with came back from his scout hour, but he does not make the biggest mess, so they got done together. There is a reining clean on the front and peace in the land again and it isn't even near the PMs time frame. It helps that the Dad bought fans to suck the cool air up so that they sleep better at night so they get up.

I am eating whatever I want but steering clear of white starch foods for the most part. Lots of salads out of my garden and good grade beef and grilled chickens. I am out of almonds and I miss my crunchy treat.

A 5 K PLAN Do I have a stall starting?

I found a nice way to help a person get ready
to run a 5K.
Something I have been wondering how to
get ready to do.
The name even helps you know that
anyone can get it
going for themselves even if they have never
been a runner.
This is courtesy of a great blogsite that
I have been reading.
If I have to cut wheat out to stay skinny
I can make food still.

So today I am only 156.2 only 2 ounces gone
hmmm.
I ate turkey and halibut two things that are new
for me this time
I guess today I better stick with the
stand by list
and not experiment at all with new.

Lunch: Grilled chicken and onions sautaed in
cold-pressed coconut oil
a strawberry smoothie with
melba toasts crumbs.
Dinner talapia white fish, lettuce bed and
apple with melba rounds.

Thirsty thirsty! 156.6 mmmmmm

Well that's not much of a loss but its .6 oz. I didn't sleep at all last night my little guy pulled my hair in his sleep all night and rolled and rolled around. He didn't eat much dinner and so it showed in his sleep. Also the hubby was called to go back to work and that always makes it a sleepless night. The night before he had never came back from work so two nights in a row is really rough on me.

I walked to the bus with my little guy and kept on walking. Later I will drive the car on my path to mark how far I went. I was so thirsty today that I have already drank most of my water and that's without Stevia in it either, it feels good to be refreshed. 2miles up and down hills today yeah!

Lunch: Can you guess, yup fresh strawberries and cucumbers one last time. A Turkey burger grilled on a Wasa cracker bun with my home made mustard spread.

Dinner well I will have to see its going to be crazy so I might be doing the grab and run fajitas.
Ended up being Halibut sandwich on Melba rounds with salted celery and an apple. I must be missing bread I keep craving sandwiches.

Seeming to hold at 160.2 lbs.

Staying at the 160 pound spot it looks like.
I have tried making Chocolate candy that I like except the Coco is really dark and unsweetened so I added coconut cream to the equal parts of coconut oil and Hershey powder. I liked how the little cream chunks pop up in the middle of the little cup of chocolate. I did add packets of stevia and could have added more to make it sweeter
I have made oppisies off of On the Lighter side of Low-carb website which is listed on side bar with a link to get to hers. I am going to make lots and freeze so I have them on emergency back ups to take apart my hamburgers or whatever when I am out on the road.
I made quiche with eggs, chicken chunk, cheese and spinach and dried ground zucchini from my food storage stash. Yummy quick treat.
Looking forward to making some more cooking things of the blog I listed above.
It is really frustrating to see how many things you can not eat because of all the sugars that are added and even the starches. Staying pretty raw is pretty much the safest bet through this phase or make sure you cook ahead.

Still Holding at 159.2 lbs

I Woke up and had stayed the same yea! So all day went over all well, tomorrow will tell all after increasing the calorie intake a bit more then the last month. I ate an omelet and increased to broccoli salad with ranch dressing and some chocolate milk. Ummmm cheese pieces. I was pretty conservative but went up to 1250 calorie over the whole day. I did walk on the treadmill for three miles and felt wonderfully fit. Late that night I had to get even with my tease of a wild son and sat on him holding him for a very long while. It felt good to not be winded and winning him, he is always pestering and this time he was not sure how to handle the fact that his Mom had the upper hold on him.

PICTURE TRUTH IS NOW ON VIEW. Oh I even had to punch some holes in my belt to tighten it up, that felt amazing. Chin had better get smaller or maybe they do lipo up there. Ah would never be brave enough for that. I will just let HCG melt it on the next round in May. I can not believe how great I feel and no sagging skin either.
